Why the Creative Industries?
Worldwide, the creative industries contribute significantly to growth and jobs – and to the development of new, innovative solutions to the challenges that companies and societies face. Also, traditional industries become more innovative and competitive when collaborating with creative companies that drive cross-sector innovation. The creative industries contribute to a more dynamic, competitive and innovative society in many ways.
At home in the UK, it is hard to overestimate the value of our thriving creative sector. The creative industries are the engine of UK business; employing more than three million people, attracting significant investment, driving collaboration and across multiple sectors and contributing £87.4bn to the economy annually.
But far beyond their economic impact, the cultural significance of our creative economy must not be forgotten. The creative sector helps the UK project itself around the world as a global hub for creative innovation.
The road from startup entrepreneur to growing company is more challenging in the creative industries than for entrepreneurs in any other sector. All entrepreneurs face challenges in business development, internationalisation and access to finance, but for entrepreneurs from the creative industries, the obstacles for growth are greater. For example, creative entrepreneurs are often perceived as a more risky investment. The structural possibilities for growth, jobs and innovation present in the creative industries have just not been realised...yet.
Is your business the one? Why not find out?
More than 100 countries send their most innovative creative businesses to the global final. We need to find the best creative business in the UK and send them to represent our thriving creative community.
We want to help the UK’s brightest creative companies find even more success on a global stage.
Previous winners like Rokoko and Bitlab have used the global profile of the Creative Business Cup as a springboard - secure investment, distribution deals and much more besides. Might you join them?
How does Creative Business Cup work?
Each year we host the national final of the Creative Business Cup UK. As a British startup, CBCUK is your entry point to competing as a finalist at Creative Business Cup in Copenhagen. We’re looking for the best and brightest creative startups to compete in our national final and win the chance to travel (all expenses paid!) to the Denmark this November.
Startups not competing in the international finals are also welcome to join us in Copenhagen, but will not be eligible to compete for the title as the world's best creative entrepreneur.
Shortlisted finalists will join us in London and pitch to a panel for the chance to represent the UK in Denmark.
This is your opportunity to showcase your business concept in front of an audience of professionals and investors, refine your pitching skills and come into contact with our large network of creative peers.
The jury selects the winners based on the following criteria:
- Creativity: Creative competencies are crucial to the success of the business concept
- Market potential: The business concept has a large market potential
Ultimately, Creative Business Cup is about change and empowerment, supporting entrepreneurs around the world. And we want YOU to be a part of it!
The total value of prizes on offer is more than USD 100,000 and delegates can enjoy a programme of seminars, one-on-one sessions, investor matchmaking and showcasing opportunities.
Entry is FREE and you can apply RIGHT NOW in less than 15 minutes
